| I really enjoy driving road
courses... |
Female Indy Pro Series™ driver,
Mishael Abbott is hoping the 29 lap, 11-turn, 3.37-mile road
course of the Corning 100 at Watkins Glen International will
lead to a victory next Sunday. She
has tasted success before at “The Glen” in the
Star Mazda Series – East Championship with a podium finish
in 2003 and fifth place in 2004. Driving
under Michael Crawford Motorsports, Mishael is eager to race
this course again.
“I really enjoy driving road courses and I’ve
had success in the Star Mazda series at Watkins Glen. I’m
banking on that experience and knowledge of the course to transfer
in the Pro Series and perhaps a good showing here again.”
The
Indy Pro Series is the premier ladder series for drivers, teams,
and sponsors striving to compete in the IndyCar® Series and the Indianapolis
500®. Coral Springs Florida native Mishael Abbott is pursuing
dual degrees from Florida Atlantic University in elementary education
and currently resides in Indianapolis while studying sports marketing
at the University of Indianapolis.

Indy Pro
Series Qualifying Dampened at Watkins Glen for Mishael Abbott
INDIANAPOLIS
(June 3, 2006)
Overnight
rains failed to subside in time for Indy Pro Series™ qualifying
on Saturday at Watkins Glen International and contributed to
a single morning qualifying session. The
early morning qualifying session was cancelled while waiting
for the MedEvac helicopter. The Indy Racing
League won't run without the medical helicopter in place but
the low ceiling kept it from getting into the track.
| slid off the track in Turn 1... |
Hoping
to repeat past successes at “The Glen”, Mishael
Abbott found her already wet qualifying session further dampened
when she slid off the track in Turn 1 and was unable to continue. Mishael
will start her Michael Crawford Motorsports, car #8, for the
Corning 100 in the sixteenth position when seventeen Indy Pro
Series cars take to the 3.37-mile road course on Sunday. “We
were slow during the first practice sessions on Friday but
picked up a few seconds by the end of third session and was
confident we would pick up a couple more seconds today,” said
Mishael Abbott. “Unfortunately I pinched the
turn-in at (Turn) 1 and the rear came around on me on the wet
track. The team is working hard to repair
the minor damage. Look for me to move up
through the field when the green falls tomorrow.” Race
time for the 29-lap (97.73 miles)
Corning 100 is 12:30 p.m. (EDT) on Sunday. Television
coverage is scheduled for Thursday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. (EDT).
Mishael is running a limited season
in the Indy Pro Series while seeking sponsorship support for
the remaining 2006 races. For sponsorship
