| big plans for the 2006 season... |
The 2005 racing season has just
ended, and with barely enough time for the engine oil or tires
on our racecars to cool, Thunder Valley Racers are making big plans
for the 2006 season.
Tony Stewart had just secured his championship at the Homestead
race in late November, when one of my friends quipped, “Well,
only 89 days till Daytona!” “No way!” I thought.
But sure enough, he was right.
It seems that there is really no downtime in our sport. We are
either consumed in the heat of the racing season, or scrambling
to prepare for whatever the racing gods have conjured up for us
in the upcoming year! Where will I find sponsors? Who will be my
strongest competitor? What improvements will they make on their
cars? What series will I run in next year???? Ahhh!! It’s
never-ending! But as crazy as it sounds, this is exactly what we
racers live for: The thrill of the next ride, the next race, the
next time I can challenge myself to excel!! Will I be up to the
challenge? Well, for many of our racers, the answer is, “You
better believe it!”
| powerful influence of women ... |
This month’s edition of Thunder Valley Racing features
women racers who, through hard work, dedication, and sheer determination,
have reached the next level in their quest for the checkered flag.
Danica Patrick’s rookie season certainly turned heads in
the racing world, but also, and perhaps more importantly, turned
heads in the business-marketing world. Visionary business leaders
are recognizing the powerful influence of women in the marketplace,
and are choosing to hitch their future to racing’s rising
stars.
While you were at work, going to school, or just relaxing at
home over the last few months, Jackie Skelton was busy chasing
her racing dreams of securing a victory in the British Formula
Woman competition. Her unabashed passion for racing shines through
in her article, and the personal account of her quest for the checkered
inspires me to continue sharing the many stories of women racers
around the world.
I hope you enjoy reading this edition in Thunder Valley Racing,
and my New Year’s wish is that you’ll find a woman
racer in your area to encourage and support…. Uh, oh! Gotta
go! Only 76 days till Daytona!!!
